Lotus Flower Kilim Carpet

The history of Egypt’s national flower, the lotus flower, dates back to the ancient period, and various depictions have been found in hieroglyphics that portray both the white and blue lotus. The lotus flower is frequently linked to chastity and cleanliness, it symbolises rebirth in ancient Egypt. The lotus flower's petals, which open when they sense sunlight and close at night to allow the blossom to fall back into the water, served as the inspiration for this interpretation.

This design was made utilising several colour palettes that speak the same language of colours pharaohs employed in their temples and was inspired by lotus flowers and their reflection underwater surfaces.
